Dr. Deepak Kumar
Lab Head
Dr. Deepak Kumar is an Associate Professor and the driving force behind the lab’s research in molecular biology, bioinformatics, plant physiology, stress resilience, and tissue culture. With over 11 years of research experience, he brings both depth and direction to the team. Known for his open-minded mentorship, Dr. Kumar encourages students to freely explore their ideas and actively supports their participation in workshops, conferences, and career-building opportunities. Always on the lookout for the latest scientific tools and technologies, he ensures the lab stays innovative and collaborative. His door is always open—for questions, ideas, or just a good scientific chat. He has over 50 publications and several awards to his name, including Young Scientist and IBC's Excellent Scholar. His lab is supported by SERB and IoE grants.

Prashasti Pandey
PMRF Fellow
Prashasti Pandey is a Research Scholar exploring the role of MYB transcription factors in mungbean under diverse environmental stresses.
With a Master’s in Biotechnology and three years of research experience at IISER Pune, she brings an interdisciplinary blend of molecular biology, bioinformatics, and plant science.
Beyond research, she enjoys painting and novels, and is known for her love of scientific events, creativity, and infectious energy.

Garima Rai
DST-WISE Fellow
Garima Rai is a Research Scholar exploring plant defense and stress responses, with interests in jasmonic acid signaling, tissue culture, and plant biotechnology.
With an M.Tech in Biotechnology from AKTU, Lucknow, and two years of research experience at CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, she brings expertise in molecular biology and bioinformatics.
Beyond the lab, Garima is known for her vibrant energy, quick wit, and talent for keeping the research environment lively and full of laughter.
Anjali Singh
DST-INSPIRE Fellow (SRF)
Anjali Singh is a Research Scholar exploring plant stress responses, with interests in calcium signaling and molecular mechanisms of stress adaptation.
With a Master’s in Botany from Banaras Hindu University and a diploma in Japanese, she combines biological research with an interdisciplinary outlook.
Known as the calmest member of the lab, Anjali enjoys music and peaceful evening walks, bringing a quiet and composed energy to the lab.
Shivam Mishra
CSIR-SRF
Shivam Mishra is a Research Scholar exploring plant stress responses, with interests in molecular biology prion-like proteins, bioinformatics, and plant biotechnology.
With a postgraduate degree in Botany from the University of Allahabad, he brings together scientific curiosity, precision, and creativity in his research.
Beyond research, he is the lab’s go-to person for organizing and managing things, helping keep the lab running smoothly while bringing a fun and positive energy to the team.
Nikita Joshi is a Research Scholar investigating calmodulin in stress signaling and adaptation in Brassica juncea, aiming to understand calcium sensors in plant stress responses. She pursued her M.Sc. in Botany at Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College, Mumbai, specializing in cytogenetics, molecular biology, and plant biotechnology. Her prior research explored microalgal extracts to enhance salt tolerance and germination in pearl millet, providing insight into plant resilience under stress. She now focuses on calcium-signaling pathways and stress tolerance mechanisms in economically important crops.

Dr. Khushboo is a DBT Research Associate in the Department of Botany, Banaras Hindu University, working on plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and beneficial plant–microbe interactions.
With a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the Central University of Haryana, her expertise spans microbial secondary metabolism, fermentation, and bioprocessing.
Her work explores beneficial microbes and their potential in promoting plant growth and advancing sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr. Khushboo

Dr. Anchal Garg is a National Post-Doctoral Fellow (NPDF) specializing in plant molecular biology, functional genomics, and stress physiology. Her research focuses on the role of prion-like proteins and protein phase behavior in plant stress adaptation and environmental responses, integrating molecular biology, genomics, and gene expression approaches.
